Earth Home

Through the years I have learned to make a home in any kind of building or country God has placed us. Aging has brought some concerns to my heart because we own no place of our own anymore to call a home on this earth. May of 2020 brought about a wonderful blessing for us, a earthly home for the rest of our time here. Our daughter and son in law turned an old one room, very rugged hunters cabin into these pictures below. With a little help from family and friends they tore down walls, added two more rooms, drywalled, painted, wood flooring, windows, and our last dwelling on this earth was finished and in November we moved in. With what few items we brought with us and some used items from others and some new things we now sit, sleep, cook, entertain, and enjoy the fruits of God’s love poured out on us. Oh, I know it’s a lot of pictures to look at, but I am so proud of all the work others have done for us. Thankful to all who had a part of helping us get into our own place before the snow begin to fly in northern Minnesota. Now when we travel in our ministry we have this place to come home to. Its just a little slice of heaven here on earth. God’s is building our eternity home as I type and when it is finish we can tell this place goodbye. But while we are still here on earth we will brag on the God who cares not only for our souls but for our earthly bodies. Trust Him for both, He is worthy of our trust. Thank you to those who prayed for this little place.

  1. I wish I could see your pics, Betty. My WP account is giving me problems. Some pics aren’t loading in posts and some posts aren’t even loading. I couldn’t get this post to load yesterday. I’m so thankful you have gotten your little cabin finished! 🎶👏🏼 I can’t wait to see the pics! 😢💜💕

  2. Your ‘little space’ is amazing. That was very thoughtful of your daughter and son-in-law. And it was very well done. The pictures reflect a lovely place. I like the open concept, makes it feel wider especially the shot taken from the stairs, and the bookshelves too.

  3. Thank you for your comments. Our daughter and son in law had to go into debt for this place. they live in a small single wide 2 bedroom mobile home and totally out of debt so this really was a gift of love to us. When we move to our heavenly home they will add another bedroom and bathroom to the place to give them more room. we are truly blessed.

  4. Since we sold our house long ago when we went to be overseas missionaries I always wondered where we would live when we got old. Due to our health we had to return to the states in 2012 and took on the ministry for our mission as Member Care Reps. Never thought we would ever live in northern Mn. We moved from southern Ca. where we shared a house and family and now we live right across the driveway from our daughter who will be our care given when we need one. I just sit and cry sometimes as God loves on us through our kids.

  5. Betty, I stopped in to visit and was able to see the pics of your cabin! Oh my goodness, I’m in love with it! Y’all did such a good job decorating! It looks homey, relaxing and comfortable. I love the pic that says just breathe. Hubby looks like he is doing serious paperwork! And you had your blog displayed on your computer! 💕 Thanks so much for sharing your little world with us! 💜

  6. You have so blessed my heart Renee. It is a cozy place. Our daughter and son in law live on five acres in northern MN. There was an old hunters cabin on their property, right across from their mobile home. Instead of borrowing money and building them a house or buying a bigger nicer mobile home they chose to borrow money and redo this cabin for us. We tried to talk them out of it but both of them want to be our care givers when the time come and wanted to provide a place for us that would help them care for us. It was and still is one of those blessings we never expected. We sold our home years ago to go to the mission field and truthfully there have been some times I have let myself worry about when we get older where we would live. We have never ever regretted given all for the sake of the gospel and our two children have never regretted us taking them to a foreign country for Jesus. They are both believers, and our daughter and family were over seas missionaries in a tribal location for about 10 years. Our son and family now live in Texas. We have had lots of people help us through the years, churches and individuals support us financially into our ministry and still do. For we are not retired yet, still are Member Care reps for our mission contacting missionaries when they are home on furlough to help them adjust. Up until this pandemic we travel tons of mile and met face to face with so many. We have learned a new way to minister this past year, through social media, zoom call, face book message, facebook and phone calls all from our little nest God provided through our children. There is very seldom a day that goes by that my husband and I do not remind ourselves how blessed we are as we sit in our comfortable chairs in our forever home here on earth. Thank you Renee for your sweet encouragement and your blog, it speaks of a Godly women in each post. Blessings to you.

  7. One more thing. Ever since we moved to Mn., will be a year next month I have experienced several health issues. We live in our RV till our place was ready, daily working on it. It was a stress move for me. Even when God is in the move or change in ones life there is stress and by the time we got into our place I was depressed and fighting for my health due to kidney failure and Covid. I say that picture on facebook and I felt like the Lord said, Betty, you just need to breathe. I bought it to remind me to do just that. Its too easy to get caught up on the things going on around and even in us and not breathe the very air He has given us. Just a few deep breaths I can feel calmness take me over. I stand often before that huge picture and just thank Him for continuing to allow me to breathe some more here on earth. Blessings.
